Things To Do
Nothing defines Southern charm quite like King Street. It is a bustling thoroughfare where Charleston's past and present meet. At more than 300 years old, King Street is the second most historically and architecturally significant street in downtown Charleston, after Meeting Street. While planning your time on King Street, consider that it is divided into three districts: Lower King Street Antiques District, Middle King Street Fashion District, and Upper King Street Design and Dining District.
Walking south on King St will take you to The Battery.
This lovely spot on the waterfront features southern mansions, cannons, cannon balls, oak trees, palmettos, statues, a gazebo, and incredible views of Fort Sumter, Castle Pinckney, and the Sullivan Island Lighthouse.
One of the nation's oldest public markets and the cultural heart of Charleston, the City Market is home to more than 300 vibrant entrepreneurs.
Magnolia has been selected as one of "America's Most Beautiful Gardens" (Travel + Leisure Magazine), and is the only garden honored with this distinction in the State of South Carolina!
Founded in 1676 by the Drayton family, Magnolia Plantation has survived the centuries and witnessed the history of our nation unfold before it from the American Revolution through the Civil War and beyond. It is the oldest public tourist site in the Lowcountry, and the oldest public gardens in America, opening its doors to visitors in 1870 to view the thousands of beautiful flowers and plants in its famous gardens.
Where To Eat
167 Raw | Cozy, casual seafood eatery serving oysters, lobster rolls, fish tacos, ceviche & more. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Charleston! However, it is quite tiny, so is best for small groups or if you have time to wait a bit before you're seated.
Hall's Chop House | We went to Hall's for our "pre-anniversary" dinner based on a local friend's suggestion. We had an amazing experience! Hall's is a family run steakhouse with top notch food and service.
Husk | An ever-changing menu of locally sourced Southern dishes served in a restored Victorian-era home. Husk is one of the trendiest eateries in Charleston right now - book your reservation in advance!
Leon's Garage | Relaxed joint serving oysters, Southern-style seafood & fried chicken in a rustic, trendy setting.
The Gin Joint | Fancy cocktail spot- Gin Joint's happy hour wins the variety award for sure.
The Vendue Rooftop | Rooftop bar offering imaginative craft cocktails, sandwiches & light bites with city views.
The Blind Tiger | Upscale bar food in an alehouse dating back to 1803, featuring a charming, brick-walled courtyard.
